I've read various solutions but nothing works. Creating a .nomedia file prevents them from showing up in the music player but it also removes them from the ringtones & notification lists. I keep them in /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones etc. It's not a huge deal but it's annoying having albums called ringtones and notifications!
