Help Keep WiFi and Web, stop other connections?

While traveling I want to keep my tablet available for GPS, maps, and web browsing. This is a WiFi only tablet with no cell phone service.

I do not want to send passwords over a public WiFi network (in restaurants, hotels, etc). I do not want g-mail, other e-mail, or my yahoo messenger account to log in while on these unsecured networks.

How do I stop only those three accounts from accessing the internet, while keeping access for web browsing? Airplane mode shuts it off for everything, which is not what I want.

I am embarrassed I didn't think of that. What a great idea and so simple!

Or remove the accounts from Settings > Accounts, if they are listed there. I do this for instance with the Google account after every connection to the Play store. (I initially changed the password after each visit - as you suggest - but got fed up with that...)
