Help Keeping apps?

When I update my baseband/firmware via Kies, what will happen to my apps, especially the one I've paid for? Will they be lost, untouched or can they be stored until the update is done?
 
When i changed my phone from the galaxy portal to a galaxy s when i logged in to my Google account my app where on the market downloads as purchased so all i needed to do was to download them or you can use app installer to save them to a sd card
 
When I update to JM2 I am sure all my apps were untouched as well as contacts message etc. No data loss whatsoever.
