Help Keeping specific messages in 'conversations'

I was wondering if there was a way to 'lock' specific sms/mms messages in a conversation so when you decide to delete the whole conversation these messages are the only ones kept. I was able to do so in my old HTC. My Z1 gives me the option to 'star' messages, but that means that the whole conversation is imune to deleting, not just them. Any ideas?

Not with the stock app (that I can see), but I use evolveSMS and you appear to have a lock function for specific messages on that.

Brilliant. Any idea if I can transfer my messages from the stock app to the evolveSMS one?

You don't need to transfer them, it reads the same database as the stock SMS app so when you open evolve for the first time, all your messages should be there.
