Just a quick poll to see if you keep wifi turned on even if you are not connected to it. I have heard different stories on if wifi drains your battery by constantly searching. I would like to leave mine on since my Google Latitude is more accurate with it on.

Leaving wifi on will always use up some battery. How much depends on where you are. If there are a lot of access points along your travels, you're likely to use more battery than if you're in a relatively wifi free area. Leave your wifi on since it helps you and if you have acceptable battery life? You win! Apps like juice defender can help extend battery life when leaving the wifi on by limiting how much polling is done. Might be worth a try if you're battery life is bad and you still want to keep wifi on.

Just like 3G and 4G, if I do not need a data connection said toggles are left off. However, I have been known to adjust the WiFi settings and change its sleep protocols to hibernate when the screen is off.

I always have it on. I have WiFi at home and at work, so most of the time it is being used. Plus, it helps at home since my signal is not too good, only about 1 or 2 bars.
