Root Kernel and system draining battery?

So I'm using gsam battery monitor and it shows my kernel and the android system as both draining battery at 11 percent each. How can I adjust that

System will always drain the battery, you can't really kill that.

As for the kernel, what kernel are you using? Are you overclocked? What are your settings? If you have something like "performance" set it will eat your battery alive.

If you use the "on-demand" setting, the kernel will only go high when needed.

do you have Google now? I installed that a cpl days ago and the battery drain from android was insane, about 10% higher than even screen, which is usually my highest draw. Turned out to be the traffic card
