@devs: This kernel package only updates the kernel binary and modules using the same technique as AnyKernel. This is all done with the included updatebootimg binary, which is a modified version of the standard mkbootimg.

Usage should be obvious if you look at the edify script. It can update only the kernel, only the ramdisk, or both (but if you're doing both, you can just write a new boot.img directly and be done with it).

Feel free to extract the package and use the tools to cook your own kernels.

I just did a dirty flash of the latest aokp42 build 5 and then I flashed this kernel and it booted and upgraded the apps but once I tried to use the phone it froze and rebooted. Once it got back to the home screen as soon as I tried to use it it rebooted again.

So I went back to recovery and dirty flashed the Rom again and it worked fine with the exception of some force closes which I'm trying to fix now.

Not sure what my problem was but it seems aokp42 build 5 doesn't like this kernel

Force closes still happening after uninstalling the apps...restarting...and reinstalling them. Wonder if something is up with this build of aokp42 or if the dirty flash didn't go right.

Now I just found out the market won't open. Closes as soon as I try to open it. So lame now I'm going to have to mess with this phone the rest of the night

Did you re-flash gapps?

I'll test this kernel later tonight. I tested the P930 version and it worked great, but I don't have my VS920 with me at the moment.

No I didn't reflash gapps. I went ahead and flashed the latest cm10.1 and your kernel and its working.

Must have been a freak incident or something with aokp42 build 5 because it's working fine for me on cm10.1

New problem. I don't know if it's the kernel or not but navigation sends me into a full reboot right away. Can someone else test this

Not just you.

Newest cm10.1 nightly
gapps 20130301
This kernel

Doing anything in maps reboots the phone.

Also reflashed 20121212 gapps. Same thing.

now we need someone without this kernel to test it.

I'm on the same setup as you but I used the 121212 gapps which shouldn't matter, and I updated all the google apps anyway so they should be the same.

I'm still on the 03-05-13 nightly, have the 20130301 gapps, just opening maps locked the phone up and rebooted.

It's damn fast otherwise :D

Update: tried reflashing gapps, same problem with maps

Rolled my boot back to my nandroid from the nightly built on the fourth for cm. I doubt much had changed in the kernel since then anyway... Worked fine. Re- kerneled. Same reboot issue. Its definitely in the kernel.

Not really sure how to help diagnose though since it's like it hard resets... Same way the power button in the camera app always has.

I'm not sure this is the right place to post this but since I read here that this is a matter of the kernel & since this particular kernel works for both CM10.1 & aokp, I'm taking a stab.

As noted in that link, I was wondering if it would be possible to enable diagnostic mode in the Spec in CM10/aokp. I really want to run JB but as I'm still in the process of trying to iron out things for running the phone on prepaid, I simply can't do that w/o diagnostic.

I understand it's not a priority (things like stability & normal operations are) but I thought I'd at least put it on the radar.

Can't say it enough: TDM & all our devs, you guys rock! Much thanks.
