Keyboard app needed, please help!

Can anyone please recommend me a keyboard app which allows me to type using the "trace" method (where you slide your fingers over the letters to enter text), without having to have predictive text on? This seems to be an issue on my new HTC One's stock keyboard, so i am looking for an alternative.

Swype is by far the best tracing keyboard. It costs $.99 but it's definitely worth it. It has lots of options too, but it does have predictive text. May I ask why you don't want it? I actually love it, cuz even tracing gets words wrong occasionally and that's an easy way to pick the right one...esp if you use different forms of the same word...(i.e. to, too, top...they're all very similar)

I've been very happy with SwiftKey. It's more expensive than Swype but I've personally had better success with it. It does go on sale quite frequently so if you keep an eye out you'll likely fine it for 99 cents as well.

I don't want predictive text cos i've just never gotten on with it. Rather than being helpful, i find it immensely annoying - i can usually type whatever i want a lot faster without it!

You can turn off predictions on both Swype and Swiftkey. But if you want to disable predictions, go with Swype. You can turn off auto-correct on it, but still have the suggestions showed in case your Swype was mistakenly read. Swiftkey has better next word prediction, but Swype is more accurate in determining the word you swiped.

For gesture typing, I recommend Swype first and Google Keyboard second. I don't recommend SwiftKey for gesture typing.
