Keyboard automatic display for user input?

Medech

Hi, I am new on Android coming from IOS, I am observing that many Android apps do not automatically display the onscreen keyboard in text area, we have tap in the text input area to display the keyboard, this adds additonal taps and is time consuming. Is there a setting to automatically display the keyboard?

I am using Android 4.1.1 on a GS3

Thanks

Welcome to the forums, Medech. Yep.. you're right, many Android apps either have a configuration selection for keyboard deployment, or they pop it up when the blank text field is tapped.

Some users make careful app selection based on those sorts of needs. You can go into Play Store (used to be Android Market, but some 3 year-old is now in charge of the place and renamed it as soon as she took over :D) and do a search on the type of app you want, then read reviews and the description area about the app and even replace the stock texting app with a one of several others available, and many more apps that use the keyboard.

Have fun.. perhaps others will chime in about the various choices they've made. :)
