keyboard has disappeared

Htc wildfire s. Cannot reply to messages as my keyboard doesn't pop up. How do I get it back?

First try a simple reboot of the phone. Turn it off, turn it on. This will cure many of the weird problems that occasionally arise with Android. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling the Google keyboard or any of the third party keyboards from the Play store.
