As far as I can see you may have had something like Swype, though mine came with the default Google, FlexT9, and Android Default keyboard.
I recommend to you SwiftKey, it's what I use, and you can train it over time with your SMS messages, your Facebook account, or your E-Mail. Try out the trial, I bought the full version myself.
You can find SwiftKey by starting at the home (default) screen, opening the app drawer by clicking the icon in the middle on the bottom bar (this will bring up your apps), and selecting the Play Store app (White rectangular shopping bag icon)
Once there press the magnifying glass and type in the name of the app you want to find (in this case, SwiftKey Trial)
Click on the app once you find it, then click install. The app will show you how to set up the keyboard.
Sorry if my instructions are a little off, I've always been bad at giving/following directions. xD
The problem I see with Swype is that it is not accurate and if you turn word prediction on in SwiftKey you can actually type faster with it than Swype. May be the case for me because I've been using ten fingers to type for the longest, and so am used to the layout of a QWERTY keyboard.
Open for suggestions really. Good keyboards, bad, eccetra.
