Keyboard icon in notification bar in ICS

I have noticed a keyboard icon in my notification bar on ICS. It says to select input method which I have set to Motorola Input. Is there a reason it still shows up sometimes?
I unselected the google voice, and swype and it still does it sometimes.

Open the keyboard and it's there as an option.

Close the keyboard and it's removed.

What's the dealio again?

Dealio being it's an unnecessary notification icon and if someone knows how to keep it from coming up every time we use the keyboard it would be nice to know.
