Keyboard useless

The keyboard does not pop when needed and usually disappears before I am done entering a word or two.

Disappearing might mean that you've hit a different button. If your phone has capacitative buttons below the screen then it could be that your thumb touches one of those while typing on the bottom row (e.g. hitting the back button while using the spacebar), and this could make the keyboard vanish.
