Keyboard Nightmares

Guest
What a keyboard nightmare. I just moved to Android from BlackBerry and what a nightmare. Such a talked about so called smart system "Android" and what a dumb keyboard. Doesn't know how to spell the most simple words. No common sense what so ever on sentence completion. Doesn't anyone on Android have the brain cells to copy BlackBerry 10 keyboard technology??? I have used about 5'different keyboards including the one that comes with HTC One and all are the same besides the skin. Any suggestions from the so called Android world???

Assuming the default language is set to your own language, and the prediction is learning your preferences, your vocabulary. Assuming your BB did the same, and got some time to get to know you, the difference might feel like a step back. But that will pass. You might like an app called SwiftKey or Swype.
Android is not just a keyboard function though. Give it some time and you'll discover the best character, like you would in any fresh relationship ;)

^^totally this.
I must admit I've only messed around on a bb but I find the SwiftKey keyboard excellent (plus you can make it learn your typing history from Facebook or G+)
I couldn't even type qwerty until this keyboard lol :thumbsupdroid:

Well, if anyone attempts to copy the BB keyboard they'll face a lawsuit in a heartbeat haha. I have to agree with others in that Swiftkey has the best text prediction. I love the layout of Flesky but have to admit it needs improvement in that aspect.

Swiftkey learns the way you type so quickly that if you type "Dinner and a movie tonight?" twice at most, from then on as soon as you hit "dinner" "and a movie tonight" will always follow. It's so good that you can "predict" your way through a lot of conversations, and I have counted up to seven word sentences all using the predict function without having to actually type one word on my own phone. TouchPal is another free keyboard that offers an amazing prediction capability almost as good as Swiftkey if you want more than one option.
