Kidney Stones

I remember someone talking about kidney stones in the past but I couldn't find the thread. I spent three hours in ER last night with my wife in excoriating pain. She was diagnosed having a kidney stone a few years ago but was advised it was unlikely to move. WRONG! My wife's body is trying to rid itself of the stone and has been making her sick the last few days. Early this morning, not only was she sick to her stomach, she was in intense pain. They confirmed it was caused by the stone and administered some pain meds. She could have been admitted but instead was sent home with some prescribed pain meds and a specialist contact information to contact Monday. She was advised that the stone is too large for her to pass without assistance. She is resting well now... thankfully.

Kidney stones are not that uncommon and often cause a lot of pain. My only experience with kidney stones was with my father and his brother. My father spent a night in the hospital when I was a kid while passing a stone. His brother was in such pain with a stone that my father and I carried him to a car and then into the hospital. An now my wife who gave natural birth to four children doubled up in pain. As an outsider looking in, a kidney stone is nothing I care to experience!

Any kidney stone stories to share? I hope nobody has suffered from one but I'm guess we have not been that lucky.
