Am I the only one thinking that Chromebooks (the low-end versions) would've been a MUCH better way to go? They'd have real keyboards, they'd cost a fraction of the iPads, and they'd have the power, flexibility--and SECURITY--of Linux, plus tons of open source software. :dontknow:
The middle school that I worked at last year had already started purchasing Chromebooks(on a small scale, not for distribution to students). I think it has serious potential.
Of course, then they had to complicate the platform mix by giving the teachers iPads.
All the major banks now support at least Firefox and Chrome, regardless of OS. Firefox is a well known brand name now, and is open source.
