Kies - An alternative program?

Hello,

I just got the Galaxy 5 player. I need Kies to work! Yes - just DL the newest version (June 13 2012) - Still will not connect with the usual message - yes Developer is disabled. Does anyone know of a fix or another program that will let me make music video playlist?

Many Thanks
John

first you should completely uninstall your kies, and any drivers associated to your phone. then reinstall kies. Once kies is installed, you can then connect your device to your pc, and skip obtaining drivers from windows update. I hope you get it working soon!

Thanks but I already tried that. Just keeps telling me to disable developer mode which was never turned on in the first place.

Hi johnmac328, I also struggled with Kies when I first bought my SGP5. One day I stumbled across the solution by accident. After installing the PC app, you must change a setting on you SGP. For anyone wanting to use Kies a connection is made by going into "Settings" on your SGP, choose "Wireless and Network", choose "USB Settings" and there it is "Samsung Kies". Select it, and you can then plug your SGP to your pc and Kies should recognize it. My pc had to install some drivers and reboot, but it connected up as expected afterwards. If you use the USB cable to transfer files later NOT using Kies don't forget to change the setting to "Mass Storage". Just remember to change to "Samsung Kies" when you want to connect to your PC using Kies.

As some of you may know Kies can be a useful app. I was able to confirm I had the latest firmware, which was my main goal. There are some sync options and import/export options I wish I would have discovered earlier (I should have read the manual more thoroughly).

Hope this helps.

Many thanks Glassman - that gets me closer. I am having a driver problem with Mobile MTP Device (USB driver) - the problem now is Win 7 64bit. I will boot into XP and install Kies there.

Thanks again!
