Help Kies connection and losing SD card

Kies is complete crap. In fact, I wish I'd stuck with my iphone now because the Galaxy is not great.

Heres the latest. If I set USB connection to Ask then when I connect to PC, it asks me. I select Samsung Kies. For some reason I then get a message in the status bar saying USB disabled.

Run Kies connects OK. But heres the best bit, on my phone if I go into SD card and phone storage it says both internal and external SD card are not available. Disconnect no difference.

Only way to get them back is to reboot the phone.

Good news is that at least it works in mass storage mode

Deffo just seeing external. Am I doing something wrong?

I figured this one out yesterday.
When you go into 'My Files' you'll see at the top /sdcard/.
That means the files/folders you see below are the Internal SD...
EXCEPT for a folder called 'sd'.

If you don't have an external sd card in your phone, the sd folder is a dummy/placeholder folder, waiting for you to put in your external sd card.

If you have your external sd card inserted, then the sd folder will have a white icon next to it. This indicates that there is an external sd card in the phone. Click on that folder and you'll see your external sd card contents.

Very confusing, I know!
There should be a pop-up note telling every new user about this, or a note when you unbox your phone.
