Kies Connectivity issues

Hi there, I have a Galaxy S2 which I have managed to connect previously to my PC via Kies. The firmware was upgraded to 2.3.5. Kies was updated this morning on my PC and now the phone will not connect to Kies. It is stuck on the connecting screen for hours... I have tried to fix the connection issues, but the problem remains. The phone is connected as I can see the memory card and usb storage in Windows explorer. Does anyone have any idea why Kies will not connect?!

Hello and welcome, daveathays. The Kies upgrade likely induced a driver conflict in your PC. Just go into the driver path and remove the older dated version (I don't have Kies anymore so can't identify them for you). You'll see date stamps in their file properties.

Once you've done that, run a program such as CCCleaner on your PC, reboot and then clear caches on your Samsung device and reboot. You should be good to go. :)

Hi, Thanks for your help, thus far... I didn't think to mention that I am in the UK... I'm not sure if that's important... I have uninstalled Kies and the mobile driver folder and rebooted twice and now it seems to be working... although when I reistalled Kies it asked if I wanted to upgrade so I declined the upgrade.

I will only use Kies to upgrade the firmware since everything else I do is synced through google and the mtp sync seems to work as does kies air and double twist.

I am also led to believe that once ICS hits the s2, firmware updates will from then on by FOTA anyway... is that right?!

Thanks!
