Kies keeps crashing

I'm a newbie to andriod and I'm trying to update to jelly bean...When I get into kies it will either say no firmware update or it'll show a firmware update. Once I click update it will download firmware but once that finishes and it's time to click "allow program to make changes to this computer" kies freezes up and I get "kies went unresponsive"

I've uninstalled kies and all that
Debugged my usb
Factory reset my phone
And even reinstalled my drivers again

I don't know what rooting is or much about it...If someone could help me download this darn thing please

When I found out ATT had the JB update I installed kies.

First machine was a netbook. Unsuccessful.

Then a older machine running XP. That also crapped out.

Next day I bought a new machine running an I5 CPU and win 8.

I installed kids. Then as soon as I launched it it said there was a minor update for it. So I update and then ran the upgrade. Total time was less than 30 minutes...
