Help Kies locking up flash-drives. Any solutions?

Welcome nigle. :)

A suggestion: I think you should edit your post and change the thread title to something that describes the issue so that your post gets attention from people who might be able to help.

Locking up? Please describe the issue in as much depth as possible. Try to include the end-to-end process you follow and the results you see. This way, people will be able to follow your "steps to reproduce" and let you know if they get the same or not.

Please also be clear on what you are calling a flash drive. A flash drive to me is a USB stick.

USB stick is what I should have written. Upon plugging in the USB stick the indicator light starts flickering as if somekind of communication is going on but it won't and can't be stopped. When I uninstall Kies the USB stick works fine.

Ah I see. Is this multiple sticks?

I assume this only happens when kies is running. If you go to start > type "msconfig" without quotation marks and press enter. Go to the startup tab and sort them by name. These are applications that run on boot. Don't untick anything you don't know but do look for kies and try to untick it if you can. When you next boot up, it shouldn't be running. Do sticks now work?

No that didn't do the trick. Indicator light starts flickering before I try to open Kies which won't open. Note that the particular USB stick I tried also doesn't let the pc start-up when inserted before start-up try (I get the same sort of flickering)

Have you formatted it recently? If no kies process is running, sounds like its the stick not kies, especially if its happening at boot too.
