Help Kies - Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Magpie l87l

Lurker
Hi all, i'm new to all this Android stuff and i'm having problems already.

I updated my phone to the latest software about 2 weeks ago and yesterday I tried to run Kies on my computer and I got the message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but yet i'm getting the same message again and again. Does anyone know what I can do to resolve this? I'm totally baffled by it.

Cheers.

i get the same error message...i have pretty much given up on kies...
i can get kies air to work...
i mainly use airdroid now...
but would be interested to hear if anyone figures it out or has any fixes also

Its annoying, I can't update my phone via the update on the phone as it is not there as it's branded as Orange.

This is my first Android phone so don't no anything about them to be fair so any help and advice is much appreciated.

Oh and what is airdroid?

KIES should be renamed POS because that's what it is. My PC is near brand new top of the line yet that program rarely works. When it does open it runs way too slow.

Airdroid won't help your update issue, but it does allow you to wirelessly transfer files to and from your phone to PC. Basically you turn on Airdroid on your phone, open your browser, and go to the URL shown on your phone in Airdroid to connect. You don't install anything on your PC. You can also go to the main Airdroid webpage on your PC, open up Airdroid on your phone, click the camera icon, point your phone at your monitor on the QR code, and it will automatically connect.
