Help Kies - Stuck at 'Connecting'

Have you set Kies as the default action on USB settings under Wireless and Network?

If so, try changing the order you connect. Ie, start Kies first, then connect phone or connect phone first, then start Kies. Can't remember which way round but this held me up for ages.
