It is supposed to streamline file transfer between your Tablet and Main PC. It is also a huge source of frustration, swearing and confusion. If you can transfer files from your PC with the USB cable without using KIES do so. It can also update your tablet when new versions of the Android operating system becomes available.
But if you get KIES up and running smoothly it is a joy to use and it actually does sync with Outlook 2007 and 2010.
You will gather I am not a great KIES fan. It took me 4 months to get it working properly.
Tips: You have to have administration rights on your PC
Clear your Outlook Archive if it stretches back more than a couple of years
Wear a hat otherwise you will pull your hair out by the roots
