Wow I was the first one to apparently report a problem with kill switch to my carrier isn't that weird I know more about it than they did so I think it's a scam and every time you need to reset your phone you have to buy a new one thank you government for protecting my device and I'm sure LG and Nokia etc are laughing because now I (and others) have to buy a new phone instead of a factory reset. I do realize that the law was put in to save lives and for people not to get expensive phone stolen I get that but I own this phone I should be able to reset it

Can you explain the actual problem? From the descriptions I've read it shouldn't be a problem to reset as long as you know the login details for the Google account you set the phone up with (which is a sensible thing to remember), but brief articles tend to leave out practical details.

If you try and reset your phone back to factory, it will not let you. Didn't blame google either. Killswitch will NOT allow reset. My service provider can't help either. Its not a problem till you need a hard rest and when you do, you find you can't.. Someone was trying to help get rid of an error and screwed my google up. I take full responsibility for it. Trying to do a factory or hard reset will not work, there for I have to buy a new phone .. Before killswitch it wouldn't have been a problem..

Something got erased or uninstalled on google play.. Now. I can't connect to them to sign in.I can't download apps that May fix this.. So a hard reset would bring back whatever got uninstalled then I could sign in..I can sign in on other devices ..

Actually a hard reset won't bring anything back. All it does is erase all user-installed apps and data, but it doesn't affect system software either way (neither removes nor replaces anything, just clears all settings).

Of course you also can't uninstall system software unless you are rooted, so a hard reset will fix any non-root software problems by removing any misconfigured settings. But if you know what is misconfigured you should be able to do the same by clearing the correct app's data without a full reset.

Of course if you are rooted and deleted something important that's a different matter. But in that case a reset wouldn't help, and you'd need to reflash the missing software.

(Sorry if you know all of that - we get a lot of people who root, delete something vital, then assume that a factory reset will bring it back, so I figured I'd play safe by explaining it anyway).

thank you for your time .. Ill just buy a new one..

If you were rooted (which I think you must be to have done this) did you have a custom recovery and use it to make a backup first? If so just restore that.

If not, it's generally possible to reflash the system software completely, but tools depend on the manufacturer. I'd look into that before buying a new phone.
