Newbie
I currenly have virgin mobile but am considering switching over. I like having the option of selecting a GSM phone from different characters instead of being forced to buy VM's phones.

So what phones with at least ICS and 4G can be brought over without much hassle???

Thanks!

Um ... most gsm phones. Any att and any tmobile phones. I use the tmobile st sim on my tmo sammy gs2 t989. Tmo just officially updated to jellybean

Go with a Nexus 4 .... They should send you a an ATT sim card.... on their BYOP (Bring your own Phone) program.... Worked for me.... For the price, the N4 can't be beat... It is the first Google phone with all the bells and whistles..Very similar to a Droid Razr with a nice large screen... . If you BYOP it must be an unlocked phone that works on 1700 and 2100 MH... Most Verizon phones don't...Cheers.:D..

Phone does not need to be unlocked. As long as you are using the same eventual service. Meaning if you have a locked tmo phone you can only use the straight talk tmo sim

Not sure that is entirely accurate.... Verizon phones wont work on the Straight talk verizon towers.... I'm talking to myself here... Could be coz you have to use ATT towers with BYOP setup.... Dunno..Cheers... :)

You can only bring a GSM phone (AT&T and T-Mobile) to Straight Talk. If the phone is unlocked, you can use either SIM Straight Talk sells (AT&T or T-Mobile). If the phone is locked, you can only use the matching SIM from Straight Talk.

Verizon and Sprint phones are CDMA phones... so you can't bring them to Straight Talk at all.

These are general rules. Like all rules, you can bend/break them, but it involves more than I care to write here.

Straight Talk no longer sells AT&T SIMs so you can only bring either an unlocked AT&T phone or T-Mobile phones (unlocked or not).

The Att sim can still be found, ebay has them but are they worth the price they are bringing? That is for you to decide.
