Kingroot not working?

bubobucks

Lurker
1. When I open Kingroot on my Samsun galaxy On5, I get this screen.
2. It loads up...
3. ...and I go to the triple line screen
4. I get this screen when I tap the "try root" button, and it goes up slowly
5. After ten minutes or so, it resets and goes to 1% and stays there
6. It goes to this screen

And that's all that happens. It isn't rooting, and I've tried everything I can think of. In developer options, I have OEM unlock on and USB debugging on, and in accessibility I have the Kingroot option on. Any ideas? Sorry about the messy format and if this is in the wrong section, and thanks in advance.

*Note: I am aware of the risks of rooting: bricking, voiding the warranty, etc.

IMO KingRoot is waste of time. Once your phone is unlocked, you need to install the right TWRP based on your brand and model. Then you use the TWRP recovery program to flash the latest superSU. Now your phone is rooted.

WARNING: read lots make sure you understand, otherwise you can screw your phone up (which is still fixable, but you massy not know how to do it)

What Android version are you running? The exploits that these apps used have been closed in recent Android versions. If you are running 6 or later it's probably not going to work.

If you already have the bootloader unlocked then there's no need for this crap anyway: find a custom recovery that has been built for your phone model (not any other model - the recovery must be for the right phone) and fastboot flash that. Then you can back up your ROM before rooting (safer) and then use the recovery to flash the packages needed to root it.

(That's a generic procedure - I've no experience of this particular phone. But as long as someone has built a custom recovery for your phone then a rooting app should be redundant once the bootloader is unlocked, and you don't have to worry about the dodgy stuff that some of these apps install as part of rooting).

Did you read the two replies you've had? Both tell you that if your bootloader is unlocked you can install a custom recovery and use that, and you do say that you have already done an OEM unlock (which I assume meant "fastboot oem unlock", which is a bootloader unlock).

Okay, thank you. I am not as familiar with this as I would like to be, but I am learning, so I did not understand most of the reply until now, so thank you for clarifying.

I know this is an old thread but im just now able to attempt the rooting process.... I have a few problems when it comes to rooting...
1. I have lg ls775 (stylo 2 from sprint)

2. Not sure how to unlock an 'unknown bootloader'.

3. Said phone just updated to android 7.0. I have heard of ways of downgrading to a rootable/flashable android version but cant seem to find a detailed explanation on what that process is.
I also have a samsung amp prime (samsung sm-j320AZ) from cricket that is running android 6.0.1 that i would like to root. But again same issue of not knowing how to unlock bootloader (i have access to bootloader info on the samsung) or finding an recovery that fits my phone model. Xda threads not much help either

The LG Stylo 2 doesn't have root on 7.0
This phone can be rooted sm-j320AZ. You will need a PC to root the Samsung phone.

From my understanding the one click apks/scripts aren't worth the time.

Could you point me to the possible downloads I will need on pc and phone and some directions?

Rooting and unlocking the bootloader are two different things. What exactly do you want to do. Are you planning to flash custom ROMs?
