kitkat for dna

When/if HTC+Verizon release an KitKat build for the DNA you can use the Software Updates menu (in Settings > About) to download and install it. No HTC phone apart from the Google Edition HTC One has KitKat yet, and it's a safe bet that the One will get it before the DNA (especially since any DNA software has to pass through Verizon), so if this does happen it won't be for a few months.

The alternative is to root and load a custom ROM based on 4.4, if any exist for the DNA yet. It's likely that this will void your warranty (though as you only get 12 months warranties in the States maybe that no longer matters?). I'd check whether there are any stable 4.4 ROMs for that phone before doing this though.

It's important to understand that Android always has to be built for the particular device - there is no "generic KitKat" that you can just install on any phone.
