kitkat killed it.

Little more info for you guys. In afraid that I don't know the version of my tablet beyond that it's a 16gig version just over a year old. I updated from 4.2 I think then to 4.4.2, the problems started with 4.4 and were not fixed with the patch.

Doing a backup and restore worked however it stopped reinstalling apps after about 10. Since getting this all sorted there are several apps that refuse to reinstall, or rather they either fail to dl, or will install but instantly crash when opened. Perhaps this is a comparability issue.

Overall I guess I am happy and probably won't miss the apps in the interim.

I'd check with the developer on those apps. They might be a bit slow to update them for Kit kat.
