KitKat query

Looking at picking up a Moto G at the weekend (can't ignore a phone this cheap with such good specs) however, I have heard a few stories of the phone going to hell when updated to KitKat and not holding onto it's network signal.

Can anyone substantiate this or shed any light on it?

I have the boost mobile moto g after the update I just did a factory reset like you should and its the best phone I've ever had without an SD card battery is phenomenal and everything just works flawlessly. Only downside is I don't have access to a PC to upload my music to Google play music so I can stream my music to my phone to free up space lol

There are lemons with any phone. KK update went plenty smoothly for me (in fact it runs better than on my rooted G2) and never did a factory reset.

Well got one upgraded to kitkat, did the factory reset and it works great. Very happy with it, especially for the price
