kitkat update sd card???

Hi all,

Got a s4 and know they are currently updating to the kitkat. before I do it when it arrives, is that right the sd card can no longer store pics etc? I put stuff on my sd card to install on my phone and worried if upgrade it then I cannot do this?? Is there a way around this or are google clamping down on this?

I don't know where you heard that, but either someone doesn't have a clue or you misunderstood something. SD cards are for storing music, pictures, etc.

SD cards will still be available for storage as always, but app-specific folders won't be able to be accessed by any other apps. Give this thread a read-through. I think it will help you understand what's going on with SD cards and KitKat.

I must have misunderstood what I was reading. I normally put apk files on my sd card then install them on my phone. I thought it can not be done once thus update is applied??

Some file managers had issues with SD Cards on KitKat, but I think most of them work properly without issue now.
