Help Kyocera Rise freezes

Only 3 month old Kyocera Rise - freezes when powered up and gets no further than the VM musical tone and VM phone logo - doesn't go further - already stuck some paper in battery compartment to make it fit snugly as others have suggested with a match cover but no go - it's a mystery - even took battery out for 30 sec or more, powered up and still it freezes at the beginning - can't even get icons on the phone - nothing seems to come up when googling the issue - bought as Xmas present without protection plan - is it worth having it checked out at a service center or just toss it???? I know I can get a battery for about $10 but is this worth it? ANY help would be appreciated!

How long have you left it at the Virgin mobile screen?

If it is at the screen and powered up, I doubt it is the battery that is the problem. If the battery was bad it wouldnt be able to power the screen on and it will turn off.

If it stays at the screen for 10 minutes or more, I would power off (pull battery) and boot to the recovery and wipe the cache (don't factory reset yet as the instructions say), then reboot and see if it does the same thing. If it is still stuck at the boot screen, I would power off (pull battery) and do a factory reset from the recovery, you WILL lose all your data. But its not working anyways so it is up to you.

Instructions on how to get to the factory recovery: Perform a Master Reset via Hardware - Kyocera Rise

Try a factory reset. since there is no recovery for this phone your out of luck if it doesnt work.

My phone VM Rise boot loops so its trash. Oh well upgraded because of the boot loop and im happier.
