Help lag after installing emulators

I installed a few emulators on the device and a bunch of roms on the sd card and I am now noticing some lag.

Are there issues with installing emulators? Do they use lots of memory even when closed?
 
No its not the emulators . How many did you install is the question. Cause some emulators have the same thing . But the problem maybe you downloaded a few to many .
 
O see they all game emulators are you rooted if so try to move the unused ones to the sd card and see if performance picks up. Then check to see if the other 2 may have the same game choices. I was in the same thing but found out ses and nes has some of the same choices in games
 
I'm not rooted. Should it matter though how many emulators I have installed? How is it affecting performance when they aren't running?

They're on the sdcard (internal/integrated), or they're on the extsdcard (your micro sd card)?

It's been a while since I ran one of those apps that check the speed of an extsdcard vs. internal, but even with a class 10 card, it's only a fraction of the speed of your integrated sdcard.

Check the application mgr., running apps, for anything that might be running from the extsdcard.

Just because you closed it doesn't mean it or an associated process is not still running.

The roms are installed on the micro sd card.

The emulator apps are installed on the internal storage of the device.

What in particular can I look for that might show me that an app might be running in the background and still hogging lots of resources?
