Lag in the UI?

Hi guys,

I'm planning on getting the GS5 through my work (not sure they'll offer the HTC), but in watching this week's mobile roar, Chris Chavez talks a lot about how laggy touchwiz is. I haven't seen any major gripes on these forums, but could you please chime in with your experiences? Is it slick and smooth, or did Chris get a lemon?

I just switched to the GS5 from a Droid Bionic, which had a very minimal overlay, and prior to that I had the original Droid which had no overlay. I have not found any lagging or stutter to the S5. It is very smooth and transitions well between screens.

This will be my first phone with a heavy UI overlay and I was a bit apprehensive about it, but so far I have been impressed with the performance of this phone. These are my thoughts on it, I hope it helps answer your question.

that was too long of a video for me to single out where they talk about GS5 Lag.

I've had it for a week now and haven't noticed any lag in the UI.

Its just something people use to slag off the Samsung phones and touchwiz.

It seems back in the S2 days and before touchwiz wasn't all that great, so people criticise it, even if its not valid any more.

I can't find it now but there is a youtube video of an S5 and a One M8, which showed there was little difference between the phones - sometimes the S5 was a bit quicker, sometimes the M8.

Hi guys,

I hate to be the downer in this group. But I have noticed lag for sure on this phone! I am used to using an iPhone (I have used the 5 for the past year) and I never, ever had lag.

I'm currently using the Samsung Galaxy S5 with Nova Launch and I get so much lag in default messaging and other applications. They just don't open smoothly as I would love. I guess I'm used to this lag because I believe it's just Touch Wiz. I also experienced it on my S4 (but never my Nexus 4 or HTC One).

I have even went into developer options and set all the animation scales and what not to 0.

I'm not sure why you guys are so blessed to not have any lag what so ever when mine is really, really noticeable.

Anybody have any tips to what might eleviate this lag?
