Help Lag

Postal

Newbie
Hey,
So I love my TB.
But I feel like it lags alot. Sometimes apps take like 5 seconds to come on. I feel as though it didn't do that when I first bought it.

Anyone else have this issue or is it just me?

I'm starting to get jealous of my friends with the iphone because their screens are so smooth and have no lag

Any suggestions for a solution?

Thanks

And I don't think I'm techie enough to root

5 seconds for an app to open up. Something is definitely wrong there. Does this even happen after a fresh reboot?

When you say fresh reboot, you mean taking the battery out and putting it back in?

I tried that, doesn't seem to help.

The app I use the most is Handcent to text, and it definetly feels like it take forever to use because of the lag

Sometimes when I switch between the home screens there's a lag there too. However, that lag varies. Sometimes it take a second or 2 to switch to the next screen, sometimes it doesn't

I'm wondering if I just have a defective TB. Because everyone else who owns a TB seems to love it and never complain about this issue

Yeah, I was talking about rebooting your phone or doing a battery pull. I was wondering if you had a bunch of apps running and consuming all of your memory.

If you take it in to Verizon, they'll probably tell you to do a factory reset. You should go into Verizon and play with the display model to see if it feels any faster than yours.

That's a good idea. I think this is what I'll do

Another silly question (and it doesn't affect everyone, but...). How many texts are saved on your phone? I've seen some phones of varying models, where after a lot are saved, it does seem to slow down, especially in the texting app. (last one had well over 4 thousand still on the phone).

I've had the phone since early this year (like a month after its release) and I've never deleted a text. You think this might be it?

It's very possible. I believe Handcent has a way to back up your texts to your SD card (I know Go SMS does). I would try backing up what you have in there, delete what you have on it now, see if it helps.

Hi,
You could also go into Handcent settings at set a top limit of texts saved per person this way it will never get out of hand :-)
Thanks,
Bryan
