Language and Keyboards settings.

I'm pretty sure the keyboard I'm using isn't the 2.3 one.

I've had problems in the past with my keyboard just randomly changing, and remember have all sorts of problems getting it back to some sort of normality.

When I go into 'Language and Keyboards settings' it only lets me alter settings to Japanese or Chinese keyboards??

Does the Xperia have an English keyboard? Certainly the one I

The english keyboard is the default input... and no even in 2.1 you could not "tweak" the settings of this keyboard. On 2.3 if i recall ( i have been downgraded to 2.1 so i'm not sure) you only have the android keyboard, this one you only have the basis tweaks that can be done. The default keyboard is no longer availlable.

Install the HTC keyboard and everything will be better!

Did you download a version of 2.3 from HongKong?

I have he default Keyboard on and there are probably about 50 different languages listed for me.

Maybe the copy of 2.1 you had was the same? Custom ROM or something?

Nope, I used PC companion. I can change my keyboard to loads of different languages, but can't edit them in as much detail as the Chinese and Japanese. Oh well, lucky them, I guess I'll stick with what I've got.

I wonder if people in China and Japan have the same problem.......?

either the android keyboard and the default keyboard are multi-language, i can select the one i use. it is set by default when choosing the default language and location at first boot.
