Hello Everyone, new Android user here.

I'm an American living in Vietnam and I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Grand. Whenever I download some apps, they start running in Vietnamese even though I've set the default to English. This just happened with the Yahoo! Mobile app. How do I fix this?

Thanks.

I think there might be specific versions of some apps, depending on what country you're in. Although I've not tried it, I'd probably get the Chinese version of the Yahoo Mobile app.

Also in a communist country like Vietnam or China, country specific apps may well contain government censoring and monitoring. And they can actually make it quite difficult to get say the United States version of a particular app.

BTW can you get Facebook in Vietnam, without having to use a VPN?

Thanks for the info! I'll see what I can figure out.

Good info to know...thanks!

Sometimes we can get FB without using VPN, but then there will be a period of like a week where VPN is necessary. How about in China?

There's a few apps produced which have specially localised versions, possibly to comply with the laws for a particular country. We have a special PRC edition of Microsoft Skype(which Beijing can censor and monitor), and they make it rather difficult to get the international version. Same with the Opera Mini web-browser.

FB is not accessible at all in the PRC, not without a VPN. News sites like BBC or CNN are sometimes blocked as well.

BTW there's a holiday tomorrow, QingMing, Ancestor's Day or Tomb Sweeping Festival. Sure Vietnam will have that one, like most of Asia.
