Laptop Choice

Hi,

I'm considering buying a laptop, could I have some suggestions?

I need it for College so basic homework would be its primary use. I do sometimes use it for games and I also do graphic design, though, so to that extent I need a laptop that would be sufficient for those kinds of things. (It's not like I'm aiming for a total gamer laptop or something, my friend has one and it cost around 3500 and I'm not willing to pay that)

The most I would be willing to pay is around 1200.

Also, as of now I have a Lenovo Thinkpad, but that really didn't work out too well. Maybe I just didn't pick well enough. I would like my laptop to have more memory (this one had around 250 gb) (though not a big deal because I'm probably going to buy an external harddrive) Also, its battery life was rather pathetic (lasted around 50 minutes) and it usually would die before my classes are over... I guess I could buy a separate battery, its just right now it has the weirdest problems such as the screen randomly changing colors. I sent it in for help though and they couldn't fix that. Lastly, the sound was horrible; when I was in high school my mom bought me speakers so she wouldn't have to hear the bad sound quality.

I'd appreciate suggestions.

Thanks

I'm sitting on a real good laptop which was only $1199. I purchased it while it was on sale though.

Consider looking also for a MAC. No viruses, no driver problems, runs all windows software and lasts for years. Only a little expensive.
