Larger battery?

Man I'm soooo close to getting it, but the battery is a total killer ... because if it I'm going back an forth between G1 and the new Samsung Memoir.
The perfect phone would be the Samsung with full qwerty keyboard + android system on it.

Hehe I have had the same problem see some posts above. But I decided I defenitly wanted a android phone and see what the battery does when I get it. There have been reports of people getting as much of 42 hours out of it so im just hoping for the best :p

Final thoughts on this battery. It seems to have a bit more life than a stock battery, if just barely. I can get a full day of standby, with no calls, no music, no wifi, no blutooth, no sat. All syncs were on. My best guess would put this battery at 1400 mAh.

My feeling is that if the stock battery doesn't get you thru the day, this probably won't either, unless you are a very light user.

The 2600 mAh, that I bought from siedio more than gets me thru a full day, including mucho music, some surfing and texting, and GPS, blutooth, and wifi used as needed. I definitely find it to be clunky and seemingly much heavier than the .6 ounces added by the new battery should make it feel, but the tradeoff "to me" is a nessessary evil. A slim battery just isn't going to get the job done, at least for me, with even moderate use.

I agree with raven the fommy battery (which mine also says 1700mah) that took me 2 months to get is not all that. It is better than the stock one. Best guess is that it lasts like 2-3 hours more. if that is what you need to get through the day it may help you out. Mine I turned all of my services back on. Why cause that is why I bought the phone right. I hate it that every time I open up an app and start doing something it tells me that the GPS service is not available, so I have to close the app go to settings turn it on, wait for it to locate me go back to the app reopen... well you see where this is going. or how many times have I had my bluetooth on and some one calls and I hit the button on the earpeice and then realize I turned off the service on the phone so now I really look like a dork with a bluetooth in one ear and my phone in the other. Anywho, some days with the 1600mah I go 12 hrs with little use, some days I still kill it in 4 hours. If the GPS indicator is blinking on the notification tab and I forgot to back out of an app and left it running.
I see they are selling it now for $34 I bought mine for $54 and it is on backorder again I see. Obviously you are not the only one with the problem. What it did do that I am thankful for is give me a second battery. I use the desktop cradle from fommy which I luv except you have to take off the hard case (at least the back half) to put it in. It has a drawer for a spare battery. So when I get home and my battery is in the red and someone calls and says hey lets go have dinner, I swap out batteries and am on my way. This with a car charger in the truck has not left me with a dead battery or I would answer that text but it would kill my battery moment in weeks. Just be prepared to wait for it.

Well, I'm buying G1, as soon as my memory card and g1 protector comes in.
Still, there is the issue of battery.
Could someone post a link to where you got the battery and the sweet standing charger (someone mentioned either here on some other post)?

ps. anyone seen 2200mAh battery for $25.00, is this guy real?:
Check this auction on E-Bay
Please help, I have less than a week to get all in ... :) PLS

I would be afraid of any batteries that aren't OEM HTC products. Or at least from a reputable source, like Seidio.

Well then, could someone point me to a place where I could purchase a good battery for affordable price?
Could you post a link?

This is the same that I bought from EBay .. working great for me !!

ive always had two days of charge out of my phone with 3G (48 hours) on and just over three days (60 hours) when i force it too 2G but i have been charging my phone over night and leaving it plugged in until i leave for work in morning. FYI Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS are off.

However just last night I charged a quick charge from 40% to 100% 2 hours i think it was plugged in, unplugged went to bed, woke up this morning and its flat 4%. So in 8 hours its gone flat from me not even turning on the screen, and i think i know the problem.

The problem seems to be when it says 100% it aint nowhere near 100% must be a bug or something in android measuring the battery level or the battery only charges with trickle charge and not a fast charge e.g. 2 hours didn't do squat even though the manual say 3 hours its total bulls**t :P .

Leave your phone charging overnight for 8 hours and if your battery is ok you will get two days with light usage. E.g each day 5 texts, 3-4 calls (not 20 min calls or anything like that just 5 min ones) and a small amount of browsing with 3G on. Cause thats what i get.

Anyway just thought you should try it before buying a new battery cause i dont feel like i need to, im happy with 2 days. I've seen a lot of people on this forum and around the net not even getting one day with no usage and that is what happens to me when i dont charge for 8 hours.

Good luck

I just posted in another thread about a similar problem that I had. The battery register just wasn't making sense to me. So I finally turned the phone off and then back on and it seemed to be giving me a more realistic reading. So now what I do is recycle the power on the phone once a day. The battery seems to register a more realistic reading now, although battery life on this phone is still, IMO, sub-par.

(Nevertheless, it's still a great phone! Just don't travel far without a charger or USB cable.)

Got a Seidio Innocell 1400mAh Extended Life Battery for $42.00 including shipping from Amazon. mLasts 3 to 4 days with moderate web browsing,m phone calls, texts and visiting the market.

I'm going to wait and see what the cupcake update will bring to the G1. I'm hoping it will sort out a bunch of the bugs and improve battery life a bit. But then again, I'm thinking maybe I should wait until the Pre, next iPhone, and next Android phone comes out before I make my decision. Summer will be an exciting time for smartphones.

I finally got it today =].
It's time to test it all the way :)
About waiting, there is always something new around the corner, so I concluded waiting might not make sense. Plus I paid only 139 for G1 (thanks to business discount that i got thanks to my school - as a student), so you can't really go wrong with that little. Not to mention, new Gphone will most likely be all touch w/o qwerty keyboard ... so not for me.

Thanks for help all, I still need to decide on which battery to get.
cheers!
