my Onkyo subwoofer came DoA, this was open-boxed from CircuitCity so no returns offered.

That sucks... I have a RCA sub and it doesn't seem to be compatible with my Pioneer amp :/ O well... A sub probably wouldn't be the best thing in an apartment. Lol.
