Latest Android Threat 2/16/12

If that's true, I hope Google pulls it soon.

It's not a threat to me, though. I would never install those apps.

I have this app.

Is Symantec saying that the developer added a trojan horse to their own program that has over 1,000,000 downloads or did someone hack the market and load a compromised app over the top or is there another app with a similar name that includes the trojan and tries to get people to download it by associating with this popular coin pirate app?

This threat came from a fake market. I only put the Android Market link for reference.

Users can click on ads found on several legit Android sites that led to the fake market sites.
Users then would browse this fake site and would have the opportunity to install common Android apps found in the legitimate App store.

Once installed, these fake apps perform the same function as other Android malware.
