Well, if the configuration of the browser is ok all through the menus, then perhaps you've got a conflict with remnants of the older version the update was supposed to replace.
Did you reboot your phone after the update?
I'd just go into the application manager and find Chrome Browser and remove data and cache, then uninstall it, hitting those three buttons in that order. Then I'd reboot the phone and go to Play Store and re-install.
After reading the ToS for the latest Google chrome I decided not to use it anymore. It gives Google the right to activate your mic and record anytime, not just calls but they can ease drop on you at anytime your phone is on. That is just plain scary to me, besides why would they even need that ability....... tooooo much power I guess
