A change to the Google search app made the microphone icon in the stock Motorola launcher stop working according to other reports that I've read.from any place but the actual Google Now interface called by swiping up from the bottom. So, any of the home screen Google search bars at the top, tapping the mic to speak results in no response.
Really bad.
Any advice?
What's wrong with tapping the microphone icon in the search bar? What if you don't want to use Moto voice? Some people don't. (I know I finally turned it off on the droid Maxx because of battery drain and battery life is a little better with it turned off.)If you're using a Moto Turbo, you should always use the hardware feature in the Moto app.

Thom, I know that you use Nova Prime. I've seen this issue reported only with the stock launcher. Just to clarify, were you testing this on the stock launcher of both phones, or with Nova launcher? I've seen plenty of reports that the Google widget in the stock launcher widget doesn't work since the most recent Google app update, but it works fine in other launchers (which was why I recommended that as a workaround).I have all updates installed on my Turbo and my Turbo 2. I don't normally use the hit a button/speak approach. I just tested it.
Turbo - Moto and button - working.
Turbo 2 - Moto working. Button not working. I tried typing an entry and got a dialog where I had to agree before proceeding. I did. Moto and button now are both working.
Perhaps the OP needs to manually enter some text, get the dialog, allow it, and the voice access by the button approach would work?
