the recent update has caused the following problems, can anyone help?

• No silent mode on phone. Either got vibrate or volume.
• When phone is locked you can not see on the top if you have got text etc. You have to unlock to see home screen

Come on Samsung sort this out

Silent mode is now accessed slightly differently.

The lack of silent mode is not a fault, it is now accessed slightly differently. You can now chose how your phone "interrupts" you. This is done through the all/none/priority button. You can basically choose to have your phone on silent, but also have certain priority functions override it. Possibly has it uses, but the downside is that it now requires two buttons to set the phone to totally silent.

Not sure about your second question. Are you saying that there is no flashing LED to alert you to messeges when the phone is off, or are you saying that nothing appears on the lock screen when you wake the phone up? Both of these are resolvable in settings.

I've had Lollipop for a few days now, it came preinstalled on my new S5. I've come straight from my S3 so missed out Kit Kat altogether. Can't say I'm that keen on it but I'm slowly getting to know it. There are some very useful YouTube videos out there (Its how I found out about the silent mode).
