Latitude track MPH?

Yesterday my husband and I were traveling on I80 in Indiana (we are from Illinois). We were pulled over by a state trooper who claims we were going 86 in a 70 mph zone. I was in the car, not driving, but know my husband had his cruise control set at 70. We know there is NO WAY we were going 86. Anyway, I had my Latitude app on my phone and the GPS was on giving us directions for home. Does anyone know if it would be able to give our miles per hour we were traveling? Thanks so much for your help in advance.

Unfortunately not as they are not true logging apps.
In the UK the police are required to regularly calibrate their speed detecting equipment, and failure to do this (or prove that it has been done) provides grounds for appealing any ticket.
