Launcher 8

I get bored relatively easily so I often change my launcher/home screen, just to change it up. I found myself really wanting to try the Windows Phone layout because of the animated tiles and customization afforded to me. So I downloaded Launcher 8 and I love it, but I have experienced the frustrating issue of the launcher/home screen constantly "rebooting" itself when I open another app, say Facebook and then return to home. It appears that the launcher is "killed" by something (I do not have any task killers installed) causing it to start all the "live tiles" from square one and constantly reload my app list. I have emailed the developer to see if it's just a bug, but in the mean time, I have been looking for a way to prevent the launcher from being "killed", an app or setting for instance. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Android OS memory management is automatic, and as the application you're running needs more RAM than the phone has available, the OS drops the lowest priority apps out of memory (kills them).

So the problem you're experiencing is the combination of:
- The Infuse's low RAM capacity (512MB)... which is a shame. This would still be a very acceptable phone spec today if only they had doubled the memory. 512MB was low even for the time it was released.
- The Facebook app needing lots of RAM, because Facebook sucks at writing apps for Android.

There is nothing you can do really. Some custom OS's have an option to force the launcher to stay in memory, but then you'd probably get crashes from Facebook.

I do not have a custom ROM installed and my phone is not rooted; how might I attempt to "force my launcher to stay in memory"? I want to try it and see if I do in fact get crashes from facebook.

I would say it's not just facebook but also launcher 8 that is a huge resource hog. I tried it and saw that everything seemed to be more sluggish even after I removed all live tiles and killed my other launchers to free memory). At that point I lost interest and removed it from my phone..I'll stick with Holo launcher.
