newb Q here,

does a launcher, like zeam or gingerbread launcher, take place of htc sense on the inspire 4g, or motoblur on the atrix 4g? or does it run alongside, just changing the homescreen?

i've looked around for an answer to this, and haven't found a clear answer.

thanks in advance,

as far as i know Launchers are things that replace the stock User Interface.

Launcher Pro is really popular and the easiest I've found so far.

Some people go deep and root their phone and do all kinds of mods.

But yeah, it changes the look and feel of your phone.

For the most part it does take place/replace, but just the home screens and app drawer. Many of your built in apps like dialer, messages, camera, gallery, contacts etc. (And the notification bar too) will still have an HTC/moto/whatever look and feel to them.

hmmm, so it sounds like it's not really replacing the other user interfaces.

i'm just trying to find the easiest way to a clean android setup, without 3rd party bloatware.

if the launchers are running alongside the other UIs, it defeats half the purpose, to not have extra stuff running.

i feel like they could do so much better with sales if they didnt make it so complicated.

the nexus s seems a bit simpler, but only has 16GB storage, no memory card, and seems a bit outdated to pay for, and hope to last 3 yrs like nokia e66 just did.
