launcher pro lags?

Just got my droid charge, and love everything so far except that launcherpro seems to lag a LOT with it.

Every screen swipe lags a bit before switching to the next screen.

Does this have anything to do with the memory problem (that a few others mentioned)?

I remember someone saying to clear all apps and widgets on TouchWiz. Something about they are running also. Will make sure that this is done when my replacement arrives.

Yes - be sure to return to the TouchWiz screens, remove every widget and icon from EVERY screen, then reduce the number of screens to 1.

Use Home Switcher For Froyo or Home Manager from the market to switch back & forth & to then switch your default.

Also, setttings > display settings > no animation helps improve the lag as well. This is different from the animations to get from screen to screen that you can set as a part of LP.

but why does it lag? does our froyo needs an update? i felt a small lag the first time i got the phone, also i still dont know why does the samsung epic score a 1200 in quadrant and the charge scores 950???

It laggs because of TouchWiz. It's Samsung's UI and has always been known to be crap. Though i do hear the latest version of it (4.0) actually works pretty nice on the tabs with the GB update. Maybe we will get lucky and get the new TW when GB arrives.

Quad scores don't mean much when it comes to phones. They are more of an entertainment thing than anything else. In the case of the Epic vs Charge it comes down to who has the most bloatware (since they have same proc/ram). Root the Charge or the Epic and you will see the scores go up by a few hundred.

As someone mentioned above make sure TW is clear (widgets gone pages deleted) and Launcher Pro should work better for you. Personally you can't go wrong with Go Launcher EX imo.

After reading this thread, I installed Go Launcher and I've been playing with it for a couple hours. It's functioning much better than LauncherPro, so I'm making the switch.

This is a sad day for me. I used LauncherPro for over a year on my Motorola Droid. LauncherPro is so functional, flexible, and customizable that it was one of the first things I installed on my Charge. Unfortunately, LauncherPro chokes and stutters on my Charge.

I'm leaving LauncherPro installed, in hopes that a future update will smoothing things out. In the meantime, Go Launcher is the home replacement for me. Maybe, given time, it will win my heart from LauncherPro permanently.

I started using GoLauncher when I got my Charge last month. I had used LauncherPro for a year on my Droid X (paid for the Pro, actually) and had great success with it. As I started to investigate the Charge more & more before getting it I saw a lot of people using GOLauncher so decided to give it a go and check it out, figuring I always had LPP if I didn't like GL. And I've really liked it so far. In fact, after using GL for a few days I decided to stick with it even though I've paid for LPP.

Tried ADW briefly but just couldn't get used to it. Partly due to the fact that I like the 3 docks of the other 2 apps.

Rooted (humblecomb 1.51) and GL --> snappy!!

Unfortunately, it's common with all launchers (the redraws). Some may appear to function a little better, but once you add in the widgets, they all have that little jaggy lag.

I was browsing XDA and found a thread that advised to do the V6 supercharger mod, the home draw adj=0 mod, and use autokiller.

That took care of the redraws. haven't had one since, and will keep an eye on it.

Also seems to be smoother.

I currently am running Launcher Pro on my Charge with no lag at all. 3 widgets on my main screen and calendar widget on a side screen. The biggest reason is I am using the GB leak 2.3.4. It does not have the lag fix but the phone is much more responsive with this ROM. Can't wait until there is a lagfix for it.

Also even though it doesn't matter too much I normally get 1250-1500 on Quadrant in this configuration. Again, no lagfix.
