Launcher Pro

Just installed and checking out Launcher Pro to see if it helps my battery life anymore.

I've installed it and it seems to have activated in that it's changed my home screen and lost the shortcuts I had on my other screens but I can sort this out.

One question, is it possible to have the original clock and weather widget enabled? I did kind of like this and would like it back if I could. I have downloaded Sense Analog Glass Clock which appears the same but can't see that it updates location on the weather.

Not really sure of the pros/cons of it with regards battery life

Right... The reason why u have lost the layout is because its a new launcher so what you need to do is add all your widgets and icons again, and with regard to that original clock and weather widget... You cannot have that because its a HTC Sense widget and you are not using HTC Sense now (you are using LauncherPro) - Hope this helps :)

ok, all makes sense. Any idea of one that is close to it or just case of looking and testing. Also just tried adding shortcut for GoSMS and it's not there to be selected, but I see I can drag it on though as normal

Hmm... not sure. And yeah it does do that sometimes, I would advise just add all the shortcuts from the app drawer :)

They look decent, I use digiclock - Different but nice. and Well basicly you are running launcherPro over the top of Sense so everything on your home screen of Sense is still running... So I would delete everything off your sense screens and rebuild your layout on launcherPro.. To delete everything from your sense screens quickly go to ''Scenes' from the customize button and choose 'Clean slate' i think its called :)

Appdrawer? You mean hold home screen and select launcherpro widgets?

Appdrawer is where all your apps are listed. Sorta like the Start Menu in Windows.

El yes that's the one I've put in but now just changed about to Go Weather, although doesn't look like it automatically updates locations same as the sense one.

GoWeather is what I use, you do have to set locations manually unfortunately, but I don't travel that often so it's not a major issue for me.

How best to disable them? Not sure if it will help me anymore

Have you selected LauncherPro as your default launcher? When you click the Home button, do you still get a choice of which one to use?

Yeah as said above you will get a choice of HTC Sense and LauncherPro... Tick the box and select LauncherPro and it will be default

is it possible to add shortcuts? For example I'm trying to change the shortcut in the dock for messaging to Go but it's not listed in the shortcuts and the same with Gmail app

Hmm... strange because I have changed the messaging one to GoSMS just fine.. maybe reboot the phone and try again? (Mine is a Desire btw not a Desire HD)

so should be able to just click on messaging icon, change shortcut and select gosms?

thats wierd.. you are choosing application... then looking arent you?

By all means go for it. Sense is nice, but there are a lot of cool functions/benefits of using an external launcher. Just have a play about, see what tickles your fancy.
