I got a code to use GoLauncher 5 for free and i've been using it a few days. I love having better customisation options over touchwiz but i'm rather concerned by the battery life seems to go faster than usual. Is this standard with launchers or can someone recommend a better launcher that doesn't have this effect.??

This may sound silly, but I tend to use my phone quite a bit more when I get something like a new launcher on my phone. Especially something that takes a lot so setting up and tweaking. Could it be that your battery life is less because you have had your phone in your hands a bit more recently. Just a thought, carry on...

I use Nova Prime and have not observed any battery issue associated with the launcher. Also, I have not heard of launchers causing an increase in battery usage. Generally, the screen is what causes the biggest battery drain on my phone.

You can check the battery stats on your phone. The Android battery stats will show which apps are using the most battery. When I check it, I usually find the screen uses a majority of the battery power. If you find that an app is using an unusual amount of power, I would suggest you reboot the phone.

It is entirely possible that Launcher A may cause more battery drain than Launcher B (some make use of location services and frequent background updates for things like weather displays, and some just straight aren't as efficient as others), but I suspect that BigRedGonzo's observation may be closer to the truth. I usually try to give myself at least five days or so when attempting to evaluate battery drain with any new ROM, kernel, or even application. I'd suggest that you just stick with it for a bit longer and see if the usage settles down.
